New Year, New Arts?

Well hello there Deviant art. I seem to have a curse of disappearing on octobers. Its been a rough past two years in my life, but things are looking up.

I've been inspired to pick up my old hobby of gem and fossil hunting thanks to Cash and Treasures on the Travel Channel. I'd also like to start working in metal. Everything from bladesmithing to jewlery and guns.

Another romantic notion in my mind is to make my own engagement and wedding rings. Might seem a bit silly, but there is alot of meaning in that, to shape the earth from stone to a symbol of eternal (though with the divorce rate, not likely) love. A much better gesture than buying one for tons of cash, saying "I'm willing to put forth all this effort and skill for you", rather than "I'm going to give you my credit card".

So anyway, watch for more deviations soonish, I've put up my first piece of simple jewlery, a necklace made from a sentimental stone. I plan to go rock hounding this weekend if weather permits, so hopefully I'll find some iron or geodes or maybe an animal fossil, plants are so common.

Do NOT click on the link in the post or the link in the post following this! It leads to a fake page asking for your deviantart account password.

If you do accidently end up doing this, change your password immediately.

It would probably be best to just hide those two posts.
